1984–2002
I was raised by a Chinese-Thai mother and an American father in Burbank, CA. That blend of cultures shaped how I see the world, with roots in Asia and a name like Anderson, I’ve always navigated the space between identities. That perspective shows up in how I think, what I create, and how I connect with people.
I grew up regularly visiting my grandparents every Sunday, hiking, participating in paid pre-release screenings and feedback studies for major entertainment studios, and actively played all types of sports, most notably Basketball and Golf. I played Varsity Basketball and ran long distance for the Cross Country and Track teams, with notable accolades such as Gatorade’s ‘Will To Win’ Athlete and multiple MVP Awards.
I am a middle child with two brothers, one older, a Neuromorphic AI Software Engineer, and one younger, an Engineer in Genomics.
2002-2006
I graduated from University of California, San Diego with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. I served as Secretary for IEEE and joined a number of grant funded projects such as Smart Parking, Micro Mouse, Junkyard Derbies, and AUVSI, an Autonomous Airplane group.
I had some really fun internships at Boeing, working in El Segundo for their Satellite division, and Panasonic Life Sciences, which lead to my first full-time employment!
2007–2011
As a founding member of a company, Tecella, I did a wide breadth of engineering here from board bringups, firmware, mechanical enclosures, PCB layouts, and early website development for our Patch Clamp Amplifiers and other Wireless STM32 driven solutions.
Our line of products reduced the time to market for pharmaceuticals by increasing the throughput of test results that are required during phase 1 cell-level testing.
We worked with University labs, such as UCLA, and companies out in Europe.
In an unfortunate time of events, we had the tough decision to downsize that lead to my departure, however, Tecella is running still to this day.
2011-2013
I joined Panasonic Avionics and worked on In-Flight Entertainment systems running Android as a Product and Sustaining Engineer.
I was initially rejected after a positive interview as I did not meet a JD requirement of having a Masters degree, but was given the opportunity to pass a written circuit analysis exam.
After enduring experiences where my career advancement was blocked by toxic politics in upper management several times, I decided to look for other opportunities.
2013-2017
I moved up to the bay area to pursue more entrepreneurial type of opportunities and ended up joining a small 5 person team that was part of Samsung’s Accelerator program.
Our product, a novel Android Launcher, and team ended up succeeding in the program and was acquired by Samsung HQ, where I spent the next few years working on Android/Tizen in mobile, wearable, television, and IoT products in Samsung’s ecosystem.
I won some 3v3 basketball tournaments and free-throw contests during my tenure.
2018
I became a Husband!
Married to my long term girlfriend of 7 years. We checked our credit scores before officially dating when Credit Karma became mainstream.
2017-2020
I joined Essential Products (EP), a startup company founded by the Father of Android, Andy Rubin.
I was brought over by the CEO from my old team at the Samsung Accelerator and had tons of fun here with lots of war stories.
I worked here as a Technical Lead and also headed our summer software internship programs.
2020
I became a Father!
Definitely one of the most fulfilling and rewarding roles. This baby was planned via white board a long time ago, but of course the news came during the pandemic and closure of EP, quite the tribulation.
2020-2024
I took on C-Suite responsibilities as the Chief Product & Technical Officer managing 25+ individuals as an entirely remote company across the globe from USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, and Asia countries.
After the shutdown of EP and during the height of the pandemic, a handful of people, including the second hire at EP, spun out to build Privacy/Security Software & Hardware at OSOM, an acronym for “out-of-sight-out-of-mind”.
Privacy was getting a lot of attention at the legislative level. This topic fortuitously also struck a chord with the Crypto community as well.
OSOM naturally and quickly became the favored partner OEM for Solana, one of the largest blockchains with a passionate and growing following. They came to us looking to build a secure Web3 first device. Coming from a hardware background at Qualcomm, Anatoly Yakovenko, Solana’s CEO, was on the path to bring 1 billion daily active users to their blockchain and saw Mobile being a huge part of that journey. Solana took OSOM’s entire Series A investment round and released the Solana Saga in May 2023.
We built bespoke software solutions and prototype hardware for companies like Hewlett Packard through 2024 while sustaining the Solana Saga.
Faced with EU rules mandating 5 years of OS and 7 years of security updates and a fallout on a huge contract, our small but mighty team decided to close our doors at the end of 2024.
2025 and beyond
I took an interim CTO and Board member role to help an old colleague launch their first startup company, utilizing AI in Market Research: https://motleytrendsetters.com/
I also helped launch an entirely different type product stemming from a childhood passion, trading cards!
I’m fortunate enough to have joined LG Electronics with the business focus of AI technologies.
I’m excited on this next venture and what the future holds.
